Michal Svoboda studied at the Conservatory in Pardubice under the guidance of Professor Stanislav Juřica, and later at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna (Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst) with the world-renowned guitar virtuoso Alexander Swete, where he graduated with distinction. He continued his studies in the class of Professor Tomasz Zawierucha at the Vorarlberg State Conservatory in Feldkirch, Austria.

He has participated in numerous masterclasses both in the Czech Republic and abroad, with artists such as Zoran Dukic, Pablo Márquez, and Hopkinson Smith. He has also achieved several successes at international guitar competitions, including 1st prize and overall winner at the 6th edition of the “Giovani musicisti – Città di Treviso” competition in Treviso, Italy, and 2nd prize at the 15th Guitar Festival in Gevelsberg, Germany.

Michal Svoboda is also active in chamber music. In 2010, he studied and performed one of the key works of modern chamber music, Le Marteau sans Maître by Pierre Boulez, with the Vienna-based Webern Ensemble Wien. This piece was performed at a concert held in honor of the composer’s 85th birthday, with Boulez himself in attendance. Currently, he most frequently performs in a duo with singers Radka Rubešová and Barbora de Nunes-Cambraia, and occasionally collaborates with guitarist Alexander Swete, violist Klaus Christa, flutist Claudia Christa, and other musicians.

The Austrian broadcaster ORF invited him to perform in its concert series “Talente im Funkhaus” (“Talents on Air”). These concerts, along with artist profiles, are regularly broadcast on Austrian national radio.

In 2017, his debut studio album titled la búsqueda was released by the ArcoDiva label.

In addition to his concert activities, Michal Svoboda is also involved in music education. Among other roles, he has worked as an assistant to Professor Alexander Swete in the concert performance program at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna.
